The world’s finest golfers descend upon tropical Sentosa Island this week as Aramco LIV Golf Singapore tees off 12-15 March 2026, marking the fourth consecutive season that the prestigious Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club has hosted the league’s Asian swing centrepiece. With jungle backdrops, ocean views, and some of the finest greens in professional golf, the 7,406-yard layout presents a stern test that rewards precision, power, and adaptability in equal measure.
Rahm Riding High After Hong Kong Victory
All eyes will be upon Jon Rahm, captain of Legion XIII, who arrives in Singapore fresh off his breakthrough victory in Hong Kong just days ago. The win ended a lengthy drought and provided, in Rahm’s words, “a lot of relief” after going winless through his first 20-plus LIV events.
“I don’t have to hear again that I’ve played 20-some events and haven’t won yet, I haven’t won in two years and all those things,” Rahm said Tuesday at his pre-tournament press conference. “I don’t have to hear that for hopefully a long time.”
A back-to-back victory would mark Rahm’s first consecutive wins since 2023, and the Spaniard is brimming with confidence about his current form. He’s made equipment changes that are paying dividends, switching to the new Quantum driver head whilst keeping his trusted shaft. “I don’t see the left miss as much,” Rahm explained. “The mis-hits with this driver, especially the heel strikes, actually still maintain very good spin and ball speed, which consistency is key in this game.”
Combined with an off-season strength programme that has added distance, Rahm’s ball-striking is peaking at the perfect time. “Those 13, 14, 15 [holes in Hong Kong] was about as flawless as I can play and I can strike the ball,” he reflected.
“Very happy about that. Which is always going to be a huge confidence booster going into Augusta.”
A Course That Demands Precision and Strategy
The jump from Hong Kong Golf Club’s 6,700 yards to Sentosa’s 7,406-yard monster presents a significant challenge, but Rahm relishes the strategic complexity. “This golf course can be quite intimidating,” he noted. “If you choose to be aggressive off the tee and hit drivers, you have the opportunity.”
He detailed the decision-making on the opening hole alone: “You can hit a driver out there. You can go out with maybe a 5-wood, 2-iron to the left side of the fairway; it’s a very narrow spot. You can go a little bit further back with maybe a 4-iron or 3-iron... so now you’re choosing how far you’re going to have into the greens.”
With very large greens where pin position dramatically affects club selection, Rahm emphasised that adaptability separates contenders from pretenders. “It’s our job as golfers to adapt to the golf course, and the one that can do that the better, I think the more complete and better golfer we’ll be,” he said. “You need to make sure your ball-striking is up to par so you can give yourself a lot of good chances.”
Niemann Seeks to Defend His Crown
Defending individual champion Joaquín Niemann, captain of Torque GC, returns to the scene of his 2025 triumph hoping to recapture the magic. “I think I played one of my best golf last year right here,” Niemann said. “The greens are in such good shape. You feel like you’re on an artist when you see the greens.”
The Chilean has had a slower start to 2026 compared to his five-win campaign last season, but he’s philosophical about timing. “I know my game is there,”
Niemann insisted. “I feel like I’ve just got to stay in my lane, keep working what I need to work on, keep doing my process, and I know if I keep doing the same thing, it’s a matter of time.”
Niemann much prefers Sentosa’s putting surfaces to last week’s grainy greens in Hong Kong. “I felt like the greens at Hong Kong, they weren’t my favourite,” he admitted. “Here, I feel like there’s a lot more delicate putts out there, and I feel like I’m more used to that.”
Fireballs Seeking Back-to-Back Team Glory
Fireballs GC return to Sentosa as the defending Singapore champions after their 2025 victory, seeking back-to-back titles at this venue. Captain Sergio Garcia, who has won tournaments in 18 different countries throughout his illustrious career, leads a hungry Spanish contingent including David Puig, Luis Masaveu, and the prodigiously long Josele Ballester.
Ballester currently leads the Aramco Power Play driving distance rankings at 317 yards and recorded the season’s longest drive at 379 yards. “If I don’t hit it straight, it’s probably not going to be an advantage at all,” Ballester said with a smile, “but yeah, I think it’s a ball striker’s course.”
Puig has opened 2026 with two top-10 finishes in three events, building crucial consistency. Meanwhile, Masaveu has been nearly unstoppable on Sundays, posting a remarkable 19-under par in final rounds this season. “I just need to try to do what I’ve been doing on Sundays more,” he explained.
Garcia, ever the veteran leader, keeps his team motivated while allowing them freedom. “These guys are great... they’re very easy to get motivated. They’re young, they’re hungry, they work hard.”
A Venue Worthy of Champions
Sentosa Golf Club has produced three different individual champions in as many years: Talor Gooch (2023), Brooks Koepka (2024), and Niemann (2025), a testament to the course’s ability to crown worthy winners. It’s only the second venue to host LIV Golf for four consecutive seasons, joining The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide.
As the tropical heat descends and the LIV’s elite prepare for battle on one of Asia’s finest layouts, Aramco LIV Golf Singapore promises four days of compelling drama where precision meets power, and only the most complete players will prevail.
